Kenyan Wildlife (5 Nights & 6 Days)

Deaparture Dates – 28 March & 01 April 2016

Nairobi, nicknamed the Green City in the Sun, Nairobi is a sprawling and cosmopolitan African city. Its proximity to the major national parks means it’s also known as the Safari Capital of Africa. A short drive from the city centre is Nairobi National Park, one of the city’s most important and famous attractions. This park is home to more than 50 rhinos who were moved from locations where poaching was widespread. There are more than 80 species of mammals including gazelles, buffaloes, warthogs, lions, cheetahs, zebras and giraffes. More than 550 bird species can also be found in this park.

Masai Mara, is Kenya’s most famous reserve that offers the chance to capture all of the ‘Big 5’ (lion, leopard, rhino, elephant, and buffalo) on camera.  The reserve is home to over 75 species of animals and over 450 varieties of birdlife.  World renowned for the breathtaking spectacle of ‘the greatest wildlife show on earth’, the awe inspiring annual migration of the wildebeest, the Mara is Kenya’s most visited protected area. Technically an extension of Tanzania’s renowned Serengeti National Park, the Mara constitutes only 4% of the entire Serengeti ecosystem but its rolling grasslands, meandering rivers and towering escarpments offer one of the world’s most rewarding and evocative wildlife arenas.

Lake Naivasha, the lake and its surroundings are rich in natural beauty, and the fertile soils and water supply have made this one of Kenya’s prime agricultural regions. The waters of the lake draw a great range of game to these shores.  Giraffes are often seen wondering among the acacia, buffalo wallow in the swamps and Colobus monkeys call from the treetops while the Lake’s large hippo population sleeps the day out in the shallow waters. Sunsets are stunning; with the haunting call of a Fish Eagle high over the lake bringing the day to a perfect end.

Aberdare: The 300 square mile Aberdare Range was officially made into a National Park and is one of Kenya’s major watersheds, supplying Nairobi’s water. It is a water catchment area as it is an undestroyed virgin forest and most of the rivers in Kenya start from the Aberdare National Park. It is the source of water that services the Kenyan capital, Nairobi. The sanctuary abounds with Zebra, Giraffe, Impala, Warthog, Duikers and the more elusive Leopard. It is a home to many species of East African birds.
