Travel Point Africa Day Tours was established in 2012 based on the realization that whilst a good number of passengers arrived on our shores for tours in Cape Town in organized groups; an even larger portion arrived as individuals who hadn’t planned the full details of their stay before landing. We therefore identified the need for flexible touring solutions and created a company that could provide organized tours in Cape Town as well as Safari Tours (from half-days to four days) for single travelers, small groups and even fully tailor-made private or group tours.
We have also established a scheduled guaranteed departure day tour service that operates 365 days of the year with no minimums on the number of passengers – allowing us to accept last minute bookings or extra passengers on pre-packaged or published tours.

In 2015 Travel Point Africa’ Day Tours merged with Grass route Tours, a black owned company specializing in township tours and cultural experiences, in a ground-breaking empowerment deal. This was hailed by the Minister for Tourism, Lynne Brown, who stated,
“This merger between Travel Point Africa Day tours and Grass route Tours is a victory for both public and private sectors. There is no doubt in my mind that they will do better business, achieve better yields and deliver an improved service to all our consumers.”
Grass route Tours was established in 2012 and quickly established itself as a market leader offering township tours and cultural experiences in a non-invasive sustainable way, bringing benefits to the communities it visited. The merger with Travel Point Africa Day Tours gave it a platform to deliver an already superior experience and enhance the benefits to the communities it operated in.
As a result of this merger Travel Point Africa Day tours is now not only a truly South African company, but also a fully compliant Black Economic Empowerment company with the benefits thereof for its clients.
We believe that Travel Point Africa does not operate in a vacuum, and just as we have an obligation and responsibility to our clients to do everything in our power for their benefit, we also have a duty to extend the benefits of tourism to our country and its people. We are also founder members of the Tourism Community Development Trust , which is involved in sustainable community development projects. We believe that our staff, the majority of which come from the ranks of the historically disadvantaged, is our greatest asset. We print about 120,000 multi page full colour Cape tours brochures per annum which is available at most accommodation establishments and tour info centres. This gives our clients direct access to our range of tourism products and relevant information about them.
24/7 Booking office
Travel Point Africa’s booking office is open from 07h00 to 23h00 seven days a week, 365 days of the year. Despite this, we also have an after hours number, should you wish to call at 23h05. This ensures that your needs are taken care of instantly.
Trained & motivated staff
As mentioned earlier, we invest heavily in our staff. We also incentivize them to go that extra mile and ensure that our clients’ needs are catered for.
Hands on management
Travel Point Africa operates on a parallel management structure, whereby everybody is responsible and involved in catering for our clients needs. It is not unusual for the managing director to take telephonic bookings. Another director is known to assist with the collection of passengers from time to time.
Well maintained fleet
Travel Point Africa has one of the largest fleets of small touring vehicles. Most of our vehicles seat between 10 – 15 passengers, thereby ensuring smaller groups and more intimate touring. Our vehicles are serviced regularly and well managed and maintained by our fleet department. Our vehicles are not older than three years old.
Qualified & experienced guides
Our guides are accredited and highly experienced. They undergo a rigorous selection process which includes educational and finally a tour on which they are assessed before they start .Their performance is evaluated on a daily basis and their remuneration is linked to the level of passenger satisfaction. Most of our guides work for Travel Point Africa Day tours exclusively.
